A refined antique fireplace surround carved from pale Carrara marble, notable for its unusually tall lintel, a design feature that lends the piece a distinctly architectural and commanding presence.
The generous height of the frieze creates a strong horizontal emphasis beneath the shelf, giving the surround a sense of weight and monumentality rarely seen in more standard examples.
The surround has undergone gentle restoration at our Herdfordshire workshop by our in-house stonemason. Please see all images and video.
