A substantial 19th-century cast-iron fireplace insert by Carron Foundry, model No. 158, identifiable by the original foundry marks cast to the lower returns.
The antique fireplace insert is with broad, square form and enriched with restrained Rococo-influenced ornament. Deeply modelled cast scrollwork, raised cartouche and framed panel, giving strong visual depth.
