Monumental Victorian Glazed Oak Library Bookcase

PRODUCT ID: BRENDON

A monumental reclaimed Victorian library bookcase of impressive scale, constructed with an oak front and pine carcass. Sourced from a distinguished building opposite the British Museum in Central London, this exceptional piece was designed to provide extensive storage while making a commanding architectural statement.

The bookcase is arranged with four original glazed display sections flanking a pair of open central bookcases, creating an attractive balance between enclosed display and accessible shelving. Below, a continuous run of drawers provides generous concealed storage, making the piece as practical today as when it was first commissioned.

The front is crafted in solid oak, featuring elegant fluted pilasters, restrained classical detailing and a substantial moulded cornice that emphasises its impressive proportions.

The bookcase is constructed in five individual sections, allowing for transportation and installation despite its considerable size. The shelves are supported on traditional shelf lugs, making them removable for flexibility, although they are set at fixed positions rather than being height adjustable.

A exceptional and impressive piece.
