Antique, early 19th Century, wooden fireplace surround with finely carved classical detailing.
The frieze is centred by a bold acanthus leaf cartouche, flanked by scrolling foliate panels and floral motifs, all crisply executed and well balanced. The jambs are attractively proportioned with subtle vertical fluting, raised on solid block bases and finished with a strong projecting cornice above.
Crafted in pine with warm, well-patinated surface, this surround offers excellent definition to the carving and would suit both formal period interiors and characterful contemporary schemes.
