A superb late Victorian cast-iron tiled fireplace insert dating from the Aesthetic Movement period. The finely cast ironwork features repeating stylised floral and geometric ornament, framing.
The insert retains a particularly decorative set of period ceramic tiles in the Neo-Classical taste, with elaborate arabesques, urns, scrolling foliage and figurative medallions in warm ochre and terracotta tones upon an ivory ground.
Their design draws strongly upon the late eighteenth-century Classical Revival and Regency decorative tradition.
A fine, elegant fireplace grate that has been fully restored and is ready for use.
