An impressive pair of large solid teak double doors, reclaimed from the historic Clothworkers’ Hall in the City of London.

The substantial doors are traditionally constructed, each with four raised and fielded panels, and retain their original architectural character and much of their period hardware, including large circular recessed handles and an unusual locking mechanism.

Clothworkers’ Hall is the home of the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the City of London. Its previous hall was destroyed during the Blitz in 1941, and the present building was constructed between 1955 and 1958 to designs developed by architect Herbert Austen Hall. The new hall was officially opened in April 1958.

These doors are an excellent example of the building's distinctive post-war approach, combining traditional architectural detailing with the quality materials and more functional design characteristic of the mid-20th century.

A particularly substantial pair of architectural doors with an exceptional documented London provenance, suitable for reuse as statement internal doors or as an architectural feature.
