An antique Victorian fireplace surround in stunning Ashburton marble; a marble that was quarried in Britain. This original fire surround features late Victorian / early Edwardian corbels supporting the shelf and simple fluted detailing on the jambs.

The iron oxide minerals often give the stone a distinct pink colouration which can appear in many shades through to dark red and maroon. It is the only 'marble' recently produced in Britain and it was an important export to South Africa, Hong Kong and particularly to the United States, where it is seen in public buildings including the President Roosevelt Memorial.

Shelf: 69.5 inches wide x 13 inches deep
Overall height: 47.5 inches
Opening: 37 inches wide x 38 inches high

Legs: 12 inches wide
