An antique costermonger's wooden cart. This charming piece of London history is a beautiful example of a greengrocer's (or costermonger's) cart, which would have been used to transport and sell fruit and vegetables around the city. Such carts would have been a common sight in the streets of London up until the last half of the twentieth century, with Leather Lane in particular being famed for its exotic and lively market scene. The cart still has patches of the original paintwork present.

A carved inscription under the rim of the cart reads: '174 on hire J. Jones 32 Leather Lane Holborn 174'.
